He attended schooling in Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School in Puttaparthi. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Badruka College of Commerce in Hyderabad. Vijay had a great interest in acting and theater during his college life and this ultimately became his career.

Vijay began his acting career by playing a minor role in the 2011 romantic comedy, Nuvvila. The role was small but it provided him with his initial exposure to the movie world. He appeared later in Yevade Subramanyam in which his performance was noted and appreciated.
