Plot
It narrates the life of a revolutionary, Udham Singh who was greatly influenced by the tragic massacre of 1919, Jallianwala Bagh. Being a young man, he can see the terrifying effects of the massacre, when hundreds of innocent citizens were killed. This traumatic experience will leave an indelible mark on his life and the motivation behind his actions.
The movie employs a non-linear story to discuss the various phases of his life. Udham, after spending some time in prison, travels to some countries such as Russia and England living under different names and plotting revenge all the time. His life is full of loneliness, patience and sacrifice as he invests the years to deliver justice.
He finally arrives in London where he successfully carries out his plan by assassinating Michael O Dwyer, the man behind the massacre. Udham does not run away, he takes his destiny and is arrested. In his trial he publicly asserts his reasons and how he is angry at British colonial rule and wants justice.
The end of the film is his execution, and this way of making him a symbol of sacrifice and rebellion. It brings to the fore the emotional weight he bears in his life and creates a very strong reminder of the price of freedom and justice.
